We're stoked to announce that the Shorty X QR (QR for Quick Release) is now available on the Mudhugger website.
Post manufacture cnc milled slots allow reusable hook and loop straps to attach the Hugger to the fork brace and legs, making fitting and removing a breeze, a real bonus if you have to transport your bike in the back of your car, or if you want to fit again after a dry spell without having to fish about for spare zipties :)
PLEASE NOTE ***WE DO NOT RECOMMEND THE VELCRO FITTING FOR DH OR ENDURO RACING*** for this type of extreme riding we'd still recommend using zipties.
Shorty X QR comes with 2 x short and 4 x long hook and loop straps, use 2 or 4 straps on fork legs, depending on how hard you ride (also available to buy as a fitting kit separately).
Fits all wheel sizes 26", 27.5" and 29" up to 3" wide tyres on a 'boost' fork.
Weight: Approx 60g
Designed and made in the UK from 99% recycled polypropylene.
Most mountain bikers now accept that a good front mudguard makes sense to reduce the amount of mud or spray flying up off the front tyre and into your eyes, glasses or goggles. Not only is it much safer, it's also more comfortable (think, hurtling down a fire road at 30mph and being pebbledashed in the face by lovely welsh grit and mud) and means you can ride faster more safely.
At only 60g in weight and 340mm long you won't even notice it's there due to tyre hugging profile. Don't be deceived by it's stealthy looks though, the Shorty still offers awesome mud and spray protection in all but the very worst riding conditions (if you love your gravity fuelled thrills in all weathers we'd recommend the FR Hugger though) helping to keep your line of vision down the trail clear.
Designed to work on all 26er, 650B and 29er (We recommend the front extender if purchasing for 29er sized wheeled bike) front forks. Also fits Plus size tyres with a Boost spec fork. Generally if you can get your pinky between the fork brace and top the tyre there is enough clearance to fit to your bike.
The Shorty X QR till makes the fitting of the MAX extender (sold separately) even easier too.
The 3 holes used to attach the extender are now pre formed (although skinned over so if you don't need them they are invisible from the outside) just pop through with a small screw driver (4mm diameter or less) or similar and you're ready to go.
